Oh hi hello there!

And WELCOME to my little corner of Magna where I am intending to inspire you, motivate you, and generally make you feel that little bit better about life.

I know how it feels to be in a fitness slump where “oh there’s just not enough hours in the day” and “woops, I should have gone to the gym today… I’ll just go tomorrow” BUT with the help of Magna and Manchester’s finest, we are going to get ourselves BACK ON TRACK. Quite literally.

With all kinds of fitness styles, regimes and classes at your fingertips (ahem, thank you again Magna), it’s easy to just say you’re going to start exercising 3 or 4 times a week but I know that for many of us there’s a little teeny something holding us back.

Confidence. That word we hear all the time but we’re not quite sure where we get one. Well LET ME TELL YOU.

I have devised a quick and simple list to help shake off that anxiety and release your inner Schwarzenegger…

1. Session Prep

The first and arguably, most important point on this list. You know that old chestnut: fail to prepare, prepare to fail? Well right here is a key example. Preparing a session from start to finish means there will not be one second of panic, anxiety, or worry about what to do next.

It can be written down, typed on your phone, or even memorised, just as long as you know what’s next, you will look exactly like you know what you’re doing at the gym, and actually mean it!

2. Social Media

USE IT. Social media gets so much stick nowadays for how readily available it is and for how distracting it can be, but it can also be one of the most useful tools you will ever own. And it’s FREE.

Fitness professionals around the world are regularly posting their fitness tips and regimes on sites such as Youtube, Instagram and Twitter, so why not take advantage? Take some time to sift through the million and one videos and blog posts until you find what’s right for you and then apply it to your gym sessions. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

3. Mobile Apps

If you deem both of the above points as too confusing or too much effort, then why not try downloading some fitness apps. Like having a little personal trainer built into your phone, apps such as Nike+ Training ClubCouch to 5K & Sworkit can all facilitate simple and easy to follow work out regimes tailored to YOU.

4. Get yourself a PT

I mean, they really do know what they’re doing at the gym. So if like me, you enjoy being told what to do and receiving praise when you do do it (and you have the money, small but rather important factor) then this may be the one for you!

5. Grab a friend

Gym buddies. They come in all shapes and sizes, but they have one thing in common. The ability to make you feel confident, fearless and not alone basically. If there’s one thing that makes me feel like I can DO THIS and like I know EXACTLY what I’m doing at the gym, it’s taking a partner in crime. Try it, you’ll see.

(Tip: Only bring someone who is equally as motivated as you to workout. If they don’t want to be there, they may actually be of no use and my theory will be discredited.)

6. All the gear

Probably the most shallow point of them all, but I’m pretty sure it’s a know fact that if you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you feel CON-FI-DENT. So why not get yourself a new pair of trainers, or splash out on those Nike leggings you’ve had your eye on. It might give you that extra push you needed in training to go HARD.

(p.s. splashing out on gym clothes isn’t for everyone, I know. So why not get yourself over to SportsDirect.com for some low priced, high end goodies. I recently had a little browse myself and I am a more than happy customer thank you very much!!)

SO YEAH,  I hope some of these pointers have helped! Make sure to look out for more blogs from me in the coming weeks and remember to keep in contact with us. I’d love to hear what you think and if you have any questions for me!

The only question left is which class you’ll choose on the Magna timetable. Got anymore workout motivation tips for us? Let us know on @magna_pass, or chat to Georgina here.
